India’s Probable Team for the ICC ODI World Cup in 2023

The most important event scheduled for this year is the ODI World Cup 2023. The 2023 ODI World Cup will take place in October and November. The event is being hosted by India, and all of the matches will be played there at various locations. 13 sites in all have been shortlisted by BCCI for the ICC competition.

In 2023, there will be 10 teams competing. Round-robin play will be used for the competition. Each squad will compete against another team in one game. The top four teams in the standings at the conclusion of the league stage will advance to the semifinals. The semi-finalists’ winners will compete in the final.

The ODI World Cup 2023 will be its thirteenth iteration. England, who won the title in the most recent edition in 2019, is the tournament’s defending champion. India enjoys a straight qualifying because it is the host nation, and they are preparing to put together a strong team. This article discusses the India team for the ODI World Cup in 2023.

India Team for ICC ODI World Cup 2023 (Probable)

Openers: Rohit Sharma (C) and Shubman Gill

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are likely to be selected as India’s openers for the ODI World Cup in 2023. Team India will be led by Rohit Sharma during the competition. The right-handed batsman has scored 371 runs in 8 ODIs this year at a strike rate of 46.37, with 2 centuries and 1 half-century.

Shubman Gill has also played outstanding cricket so far in 2023. He has scored 624 runs at an exceptional average of 78.0 in 9 ODIs. Gill has demonstrated that he is currently at the top of his game with 3 tons and 1 fifty. A double century versus New Zealand was also broken by him.

India has twice missed the World Cup final in the past 12 years, finishing in the semifinals in 2015 and 2019. In the previous year, The Men in Blue won 14 games, for a win percentage of 58.33%.  These figures show that the squad was performing well, but there is still much space for growth.

The Indian cricket squad is under even more strain this year due to the spectators’ increased interest. The World Cup is the next largest event for the millions of Indians who want to watch and support their favorite players after the IPL.

With nine victories, seven defeats, and two no results, the Indian squad struggled to win internationally. On the other side, Men in Blue kept up their unstoppable streak at home, where they had won five of their previous six games.

Veteran athletes like Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, as well as players like Axar Patel and Washington Sundar, will make up the team’s all-rounders. After Rishabh Pant’s mishap, which kept him away for an extended period of time, the wicket-keeping position will be vacant. However, we think Pant will be able to recuperate in time to at least serve as a backup for the Indian team. Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Kl Rahul are more glovemen who would play with Pant.
